Dr. Randy Culig

ATLANTA'S UPPER CERVICAL SPECIALISTS

Precise Care for the Upper Cervical Spine

Where Neurological Health Begins at C1 & C2

At Upper Cervical Chiropractor Atlanta, we focus on the alignment of the Atlas Vertebra (C1) and Axis Vertebra (C2). These are two bones at the top of your spine that surround and protect your brainstem and spinal cord. When they shift out of their proper position, they may begin to interfere with neurological signaling throughout your entire body.

Our approach emphasizes finding the cause of your symptoms, not just masking them. We focus on identifying and correcting the structural root cause that may be disrupting your nervous system. Every correction is gentle and low-force, guided by precision 3D imaging to ensure accuracy and safety.

WHAT WE DO

What Is Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care?

It is a focused form of chiropractic care that works on the top two vertebrae of the spine. C1 (atlas) and C2 (axis) surround and protect the brainstem/upper spinal cord and play a direct role in neurological function, balance, coordination and posture.
When the upper cervical spine shifts out of place, it can put abnormal pressure on the brainstem and nearby neurological structures. This may cause symptoms throughout the body, not just in the neck.

Our approach uses

How Upper Cervical Therapy Differs from Traditional Chiropractic

Chiropractic is generally recognized as spinal manipulation but above vertebral care is a niche discipline rooted in functional neurology. We do not use forceful joint cavitation of the neck.

Instead, our clinic relies on precise analysis and individualized assessment to deliver a customized improvement that respects the unique analysis of each patient.

OUR UPPER CERVICAL CARE

How the Upper Cervical Spine Affects the Nervous System

The brainstem controls vital functions such as balance, coordination, blood pressure, and sensory processing. It sits directly between the skull and the upper cervical spine. Even small misalignments in this area can have wide-reaching effects throughout the entire body.

I have been seeing Dr. Jacob for about 2 months, and it has been a great experience. I have struggled with neck pain, dizziness, fatigue, and neurological symptoms for the past few years and have seen multiple specialists for these problems but received no concrete answers. Many of my symptoms have become much more manageable since starting with Dr. Jacob, especially my neck pain. Dr. Jacob is very personable and one of the only doctors who I felt truly listened to everything I had to say during my consultation appiontment. I have been to multiple other chiropractors, one also specializing in upper cervical care, and would strongly reccomend Upper Cervical Specialists of Atlanta over any others I have tried.

I’ve had a great experience with Dr. Jacob at Upper Cervical Specialist of Atlanta. I’m currently being treated for Ménière’s disease and occipital neuralgia. I’m very happy with the care I’ve received. The entire team is friendly, compassionate, and genuinely takes the time to listen and make you feel comfortable. I always feel welcomed and well cared for at every visit. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for knowledgeable, personalized chiropractic care!

I have been a patient of UCSoA for three years and I can 100% say Randy, Jacob and the team have drastically improved my quality of life. They take time to connect the dots with your injuries, ailments, and day-to-day issues and thoughtfully ensure you really feel better after each appointment. I cannot recommend them enough.
I have been a patient of Dr. Jacob's for nearly six months, and I can't describe the level of relief I've experienced since coming to Upper Cervial Specialists. I have endured migraines and dizziness for over a decade and seen specialist after specialist, with no answer or solution.

Dr. Jacob's deep tissue work and gentle adjustments - none of the yanking or loud cracking that you see from others online - have truly transformed my quality of life. No migraines, dizziness or blurred vision anymore.

Also, for what it's worth, he's pretty funny.

I found Upper Cervical after struggling with vertigo and dizziness, coordination issues, and neck/shoulder pain after a chiro adjustment gone wrong. It took me 2 years of bizarre symptoms to find them and I’m so glad I did.

Dr. Culig has been so patient with understanding everything I’m experiencing and reassuring me with explanations and solutions to try. I’m now going on over a month without needing an adjustment and only having symptoms when I do something strenuous. Previously I was dizzy everyday. I’m still working on being able to sleep on my side but the progress is noticeable and I’m so glad to have someone to support me through figuring all this out!

I've seen Dr. Culig for a couple years and, more recently, Dr. Amanda. As someone with hypermobility, they have not only helped me with treatments each visit but have also given me great advice on how to improve my day-to-day. I've been working with Dr. Amanda recently and she has been so thorough and caring, often going beyond the appointment time when she can, always checking in after appointments, and is also a wealth of knowledge on hypermobility. Highly recommend!

This practice is amazing! They are knowledgeable, skillful, and compassionate, and everyone there seems happy and kind and like they really care. With the chiropractic care here, in combination with other therapies (ie: acupuncture & physical therapy), I’ve seen a significant improvement in my dizziness symptoms. Dr. Amanda (and the CBCT imaging) has helped me get a clear idea of what in my neck is structurally contributing to my symptoms. (The CBCT was actually more helpful than the MRI because it’s 3D).

Last winter I had a terrible stretch of bronchitis and was sick for over eight weeks with an awful cough. The coughing became so intense that I ended up with a cervical sprain, almost like whiplash. Luckily, a friend who had previously been to Pierce highly recommended them for anything related to the cervical spine. Dr. Amanda helped me significantly within the first couple of visits, and I will definitely be back to see her anytime something feels out of whack.

When I found Dr Culig I had been having daily debilitating vestibular migraines for three months and years of neck and back pain following a car accident. He has played a major role in getting my life back on track. His treatment is guided by advanced imaging and years of specialized experience in upper cervical care. It is highly professional, careful (no scary maneuvers), and effective. On one occasion I arrived so dizzy I could scarcely move and left feeling great; I haven’t experienced dizziness like that again since. Dr Culig is passionate about providing the best possible care to his patients and committed to their wellbeing.

I have been going to Upper Cervical Specialists for over a year and Dr. Randy Culig is excellent and has helped me with my neck pain. Dr. Jacob Peterson is very good and just started recently. Today, I was desperate and Dr. Amanda Brown was working and she is outstanding. She worked on my neck and listened to my requests. All 3 doctors are great to see and really care about fixing the patient's problems. What I liked about Dr. Amanda was she took care with me for seeing me the first time. Dr. Culig and Dr. Jacob do that too. Thanks to all 3 of them, they are all excellent. Marsha Raeber

I was dealing with persistent neck pain and decided to pursue a more targeted treatment plan rather than a traditional chiropractic approach. That led me to Upper Cervical Specialists of Atlanta, where I had an excellent experience with Dr. Amanda Brown.

She is incredibly thoughtful in her assessments and takes the time to understand what is truly causing discomfort and how she can best help. I experienced significant improvement in my neck pain, and she also connected me with helpful resources outside the practice to support my overall health journey.

It is always a pleasure to see her. If you’re experiencing pain and have been on the fence about seeking treatment, I would absolutely recommend giving it a try.

To say Dr. Culig saved my life would be an understatement.

I began seeing him in 2024 after my health had significantly declined. I was unable to drive long distances, would be bedridden for days after minimal activity, and struggled with basic tasks like grocery shopping or working at a computer. I had already seen multiple specialists across neurology, ENT, and cervical care, and despite imaging, no one could give me clear answers.

Early on, Dr. Culig identified that my C1 was rotated. At the time, I was skeptical, as prior imaging reviewed by other providers had not identified this. Eventually, I pursued a DMX study out of pocket, which confirmed what he had been saying.

Understanding that DMX findings are not always widely accepted, I asked what imaging would clearly demonstrate the issue to other providers. He immediately recommended a cervical MRI with CCJ protocol. When my initial MRI report came back lacking detail, he personally followed up to ensure it was reviewed thoroughly, which ultimately led to more complete findings.

I saw Dr. Culig regularly and he played a key role not only in guiding my care, but also in helping me navigate disability paperwork and access appropriate imaging. During a time when I was physically limited and often struggling, I was consistently treated with professionalism, respect, and compassion.

I am incredibly grateful for the level of care I received and would strongly recommend this practice to anyone dealing with complex or unresolved cervical issues.
